About Us

Who We Are

Active Voices tackles critical issues paramount to health and development. Through advocacy, research, partnerships and program interventions, we improve the health and rights of children, youths, women and girls. We are a non-governmental; pro-girl; pro-women and pro-youth organization.

Our mission is to support and promote youth involvement and leadership for improved health, rights and sustainable development of adolescents, young people and women in Nigeria and Africa

Our Story

Active Voices was borne out of passion and love for volunteerism and community service.

We envision a society where everyone irrespective of age, gender, disability, sexual orientation or religious affiliation is empowered to live to their maximum potential with utmost health and opportunities for development in a sustainable environment.

This has been the bedrock for Active Voices and through the pathway of the sustainable development goals, we work to achieve the envisioned society.

Active Voices is led by experts in health and development. The founder supervises and provides support to the Executive Team who are decision makers guiding program implementation by the organization. Our Board of Trustees includes leaders in health policy, human rights, business, social science, innovation and technology, and international development – oversees & guides Active Voices.

Active Voices has worked to improve the health and rights of youths, women and girls.

Our capabilities include:

  • Behavioural and social research to provide data and evidence to support program interventions
  • Advocacy to bring about social and behavioural change including changes in policies
  • Capacity Building for passionate young people led by our team of experts and a vibrant pool of young people with vast experience.
  • Youth Empowerment and Engagement to support youth-led movements, ideas, and programs to improve the health and rights of youths, women and girls.

With a focus on sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), education, gender equity and gender based violence (GBV). We work to end female genital mutilation and child forced marriage, ensure young people have access to contraceptives including comprehensive sexuality education and promote menstrual hygiene management among women and girls.

We believe the youths are a tremendous resource for change and Active Voices was established to support and promote youth involvement to drive change and overcome obstacles to health and development.

We partner with notable youth advocates and organizations to drive the envisioned change in the society.
